A blueprint for HR Tech success in shift-based sectors

Early Childhood Management Services (ECMS) has been a pillar of early learning in Victoria, managing 68 kindergartens and childcare centres and supporting over 5,500 children each week.

ECMS manages a constantly changing shift-based workforce in a highly competitive labour market with tight margins.  Against a decade of underinvestment in HR systems, Stu Braganza-Travis presented his people technology business case to the board in 2023.  It was the single biggest investment the organisation had ever considered.  It also was the easiest, fastest decision they have ever made!

“In early childhood services, if you can’t manage, attract and secure talent, you can’t run the business,” Stu explained. “We needed systems to better manage our carers, teachers, and classroom allocations while simultaneously tackling talent attraction and retention challenges.”

Pinpoint were engaged as the HR tech project specialists, helping ECMS select and implement a full-suite people technology solution—one that addressed both tactical pain points and long-term strategic imperatives.

Additional support from Pinpoint came in the form of expert client-side resources including business analysts to help ECMS prepare and a client-side Project Manager to steer them to go-live, and beyond.
